Question:  Is there away around the PROM level password for a SGI Onyx or Challenge computer?

Answer: You are going to need to log on in to the IRIX operating system as Root or an account with supper user privileges.  Next type:

nvram passwd-key ""

This will zero out password stored in PROM NVRAM.
